Weekly Report: Conventions, Birthdays and Borders, oh my!
Yikes. These last two weeks have been crazy! I expected that. Last week, I had one evening that didn’t require me to go anywhere. Wednesday was my birthday. Then there was a convention I went to over the weekend. It was an Anime Revolution 2017. So the weekend was shot. There was also angry calls to my bank. Monday was a holiday and I needed it to recover from the weekend. I didn’t even buy groceries which caused problems for the rest of the week. Speaking of groceries, I need to go buy some yet today so I don’t cause problems for the rest of the week.
This week was only slightly less busy in the evenings. Though now I have 200+ images that I require finishing processing from the convention that must be posted online somewhere so everyone who asked where I was going to put stuff online can then find it. Adjusting and cropping that many pictures take hours if you didn’t know. But I should be writing. Yes, I should be doing that too.
I also got to the final round of competition fireworks which were amazing. And even more pictures for that event. Saturday was insanely busy.
The last two weeks also saw a complete cover of smoke. From starting on August 1 through yesterday August 12. The British Columbia wildfires are huge and make a lot of smoke. The winds had shifted and covered all of the lower mainland and down as far as Portland from what I had read. This gave us weird weak red sunlight days. Some very pretty red sunsets and all around otherworldly feeling for two weeks. There had also been a heat wave where they expected upwards of 90. The smoke kept it cooler then that, but still very hot. I imagine it felt a bit like how the world of Mistborn had felt.
This weekend required a trip across the border to renew my work visa. That turned into an all day trip. According to the border, I renewed super early – two weeks early, like what the hell, you had two weeks yet dude. Where I’m thinking holy crap, I’m running so very late with this, I wanted this done a month ago and not worrying about this in the last month! This is cutting it way too close to get something this important renewed! But it’ done and I don’t have to stress over it anymore.
So. That has left me with Sunday. Today! Where I have sat down for 2 hours and edit. I got through Kudzu Knights and that brings me up to 11 revised shorts for a grand total of 12. I’m about halfway done! But November is looming upon me now and October will require plotting out something for this year’s National Novel Writing Month. I’ve got a lot of work to do yet. And I haven’t even started looking into how actually one goes about e-publishing something. I’m sure that a lot of smarter people than me have written much on this topic.
Hopefully, I’m getting back into the swing of things. But I’m looking at you, next weekend. I see you there, lurking. Waiting to devour all my free time. I’ll be ready. I have a printer.
